At the flick of a switch you can go from a clear glass to a translucent almost opaque glass which still allows plenty of natural light to transmit.
A technologically advanced emulsion of liquid crystal integrated into a switchable interlayer unleashes the power to change the view from opaque to clear, electrically, in just 1/50th of a second.
ASG Safety Glass is the Australian distributor and installer of a new 2nd generation nano-technology laminated glass product, which has been invented and developed in Australia by i-Glass Technologies.
The technology has been embraced in the automotive industry, both manufacturers and the aftermarket segment, for their automotive glazing, having passed two years of testing in Arizona and Iceland.
ASG will be marketing and installing the product for the Architectural market in Australia.

For exterior applications, the product can be integrated with Low-E options for additional energy efficiency.
Installations:
- Variable adjustment settings, motion detector switching, solar detector integration will be available.
- The interlayer has the capability to be laser cut and installed into the panels for aesthetic effects.
- Can be supplied as laminated or laminated toughened product.
- Can be installed with exposed vertical edges with silicone butt joints in continuous partitioning applications.
An earlier generation of switchable privacy glass had some very significant shortcomings that severely limited sales of the product. Glass sizes were limited to smaller sizes, and the average cost in many cases was prohibitively expensive. Through nano-technology the i-Glass product has brought the price of switchable privacy glass down by half or more, compared to the previous pricing for these products in the market place.
In addition to lower cost and larger panel sizes, our product offers better haze control. Improved ability to disperse image and light, and is whiter than previous products. The patented computerized automated film production processes and formulas make possible for more uniform substrate thickness, better quality control, and more dependable delivery of products in required quantities.
The power to change from opaque to clear and back again means instant privacy in glass interior room dividers and for exterior windows, with no blinds, shades, or other window coverings.
50% light transmission in the opaque phase reduces uncomfortable glare and saves energy by lowering the solar heat gain.
In both interior and exterior applications, the seven (7) interlayers within the Switchable privacy glass help protect from distracting environmental noise.
